Mission
The mission of the RENUE program is to create a public forum by providing education, cooperation, and communication between students, residents, and city agencies about how our lifestyles affect our environment.

Vision
- To create self-sustaining community food sources through urban gardens.
- To create an operational student-centered recycling and waste management system, which is integrated into the Reading School District elective curriculum, and accounts for improved recycling efforts throughout the City of Reading, Pennsylvania.
Goals
- Reduce overall costs to the school district’s trash/waste management
- Create additional revenue streams
- Develop education and awareness programs of earth saving initiatives
- Draw attention to an investment in personal responsibility
- Contribute to the begin of a recycling initiative
- Coordinate recycling programs with multiple area businesses
- Create of an alternative charter school for development of a sustainable environment

Possible Funding
A portion of the budget from the city and school district will be set aside for the initiation of an outcome based model school recycling initiative.
Outcomes
- The School Recycling Initiative will include Reading and Math based initiatives to allow for integrated curriculum development along with addressing earth awareness for the children.
- The School Recycling Initiative will provide a sensible solution for the recycling of our waste in our school buildings.
- The School Recycling Initiative will demonstrate that sustainable waste management can be contained and initiated with ease in our schools: without disrupting the current waste management system.
- The School Recycling Initiative will add another income stream into the budget of the school buildings.
